Excellent book on phase noise principles and oscillators stability issues

This is nothing but a wonderful book that Enrico Rubiola written. He gives insight into the phase noise characteristics of precision oscillators both from a theoretical and simplified rule-of-thumb level and also applies this knowledge to measurements and datasheets of vendors oscillators to derive fairly correct characteristic parameters. He goes into the depth of the Leeson theory (and with a nice forword of David Leeson) so that both theory and practical rule of thumbs comes out understandable and reasonable. This book concentrates on the phase noise aspects and not as much on long term measures such as Allan deviations and friends. Never the less I consider this among the better books in the field in my library, as it goes into the deep end over issues usually covered with a bit of hand-waving and then straight to measures. He also analyse commercially available oscillators and show his own mistakes to help point out errors which can be done. This book should be a good read for anyone wanting to design low phase-noise oscillators as it should guide the designer towards the critical parameters. Many other books cover the nitty gritty of achieving such performance, while this book gives the overview of how they apply to the field of oscillators. Prof. Rubiola has alot of online material which makes excellent reading, but this book acts like a good initial guide into the field, for which most of his detailed material covers the measurement details for.
