Review

If you have multiple Minecraft lovers in your household, it should be able to withstand several read-throughs. - Christ Centered GamerThis is so cool! This [book has] hands on activities (not touching the screen) to make science connections to Minecraft. - Teacher Tech with Alice KeelerThis is a great book for encouraging Minecraft-obsessed kids to try something different in the game and getting them involved in STEM in the real-world too. - GeekMomThis book is amazing on so many levels. It really knows how to draw the kids into it and capture their interest. The book walks the reader through fascinating labs that you can do in Minecraft, thereby utilizing the computerized world as an educational platform. But, then it also has really cool labs to do in the real world. - KellysThoughtsOnThings.comThe book is simply amazing, and teachers will find a chart in the back of the book with how each project relates to Classroom Standards. But parents and camp instructors (like me) are going to find this book an invaluable resource for using Minecraft to teach (or sneak in) some real-world projects and hands-on activities. - GeekDadPerfect for memorable family nights or sensational classroom fun, guided quests and labs encourage creative thinking and collaborative communication with dozens of activities designed to engage children, teens, and adults, both on- and offline. - Foreword Reviews, starred reviewOne of the main things that I like about this book is that each of the six chapters begins with an activity that is completed without the use of a digital device. Next come related activities in the creative mode of Minecraft. [...] Recommended. - School Library Connection

My son found this very interesting. Finally a way to get him to do more than just play video games.

We bought the first Minecraft Lab book for our girls, and they loved it! So, we had to try this one, too. It was just as fabulous, with fun family activities mixed in with Minecraft-based learning. Can't recommend this enough for learning fun!

My grandson loves this! It is educational and fun!

As a teacher, I'm always looking for new ways to extend my students' learning. Motivation goes a long way with elementary students. I've had colleagues experiment with Minecraft in their classrooms but it just seemed like so much to learn. I tried playing it myself and was attacked by zombies my first night. Needless to say, my kids expected what I didn't.Fast forward to Minecraft STEMLAB for Kids... Here are some great examples of how to engage kids using hands on experiments, exploratory learning, and of course, technology. There is a box to explain the science behind each activity, which helps build parent/teacher confidence that they understand what is going on. I also love that there are fun family activities that go with the projects. If you are looking for a tool to bring STEM learning to a child, pick this one up!

Thank you Quarto for sending us this book to review! My kids have been playing Minecraft for several years and have spent countless hours chatting and building impressive creations with others online. Minecraft can be a great learning medium and we have reviewed several Minecraft books that incorporate learning and crafts with the popular game. The Unofficial Minecraft STEM Lab for Kids has both in-game and family projects that teach concepts in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).My son, Aaron, completed all of the in-game projects and enjoyed doing them. Like dominos, he enjoyed the chain reaction projects and showed them to his sisters and friends. One of the projects has you recreating the solar system in game. Creating an ecosystem inside and outside of Minecraft is also covered in this 114-page book. What science project book would not be complete without a baking soda and vinegar volcano eruption? You’ll be able to cause a volcano to erupt in and outside of this game. One of my daughters, Amber, likes making slime and appreciated the glowing goo recipe found in this book. It should go without saying that some of the projects are messier than others. The only complaint is that according to my son, one of the tutorials asks the reader to craft an elytra cape which is not a craftable item. You can obtain elytras from End ships or cities. Other than that nitpick, this book is highly recommended. This title is available digitally for $11.99 and in a physical format for $19.99. The flexible binding is sturdy and has survived the wear and tear of a ten year old completing it cover to cover. If you have multiple Minecraft lovers in your household, it should be able to withstand several read-throughs.

This manual helps with aiding in the teaching of Science, using a new way of helping the kids absorb. While the STEM system is not new, this book shows with 48 projects just how computer games and education can be combined. If you have not seen this series, you are in a for a treat. The author's still observe some basics. They encourage the use of a journal. Using the popularity of the video game Minecraft, users can gain scientific knowledge. Making fun things like glow in the dark items to fireworks. I loved the lab that was able to be crafted.Harness the widely enjoyed video game to bring education to students. This is such a great idea, and a very usable concept. I was actually excited and at the end, hoping for more projects. Maybe there will be a volume 2?***This early copy was given in exchange for an honest review by Netgalley and its publishers only.

Welcome to the adventure of the Unoffficial Minecraft Stemlabs for Kids. There are many on ramps to interest and connect kids and adults. The six quests are theme based (like Construction Zone or Engineering Challenge) and provide a focus for adventures. Each quest provides four labs or ways to explore the stem-related topics. What is great about this book is the opportunity to play and wonder about interesting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) explorations. The book paves connections between children who love Minecraft and science, to adults who enjoy engaging in learning experiences with them. There are hands-on experiments, engaging sketchnoting opportunities, links to outside resources, and biographies of minecrafters to explore. The heart of this book, however, is the love for engaging in a community of learning together. This would be a great book to connect adults and kids over Minecraft, STEM, and just plain fun. Run out and grab your copy before they fly off the shelves!

I thoroughly enjoyed not only the content but also the wonderful and colorful layout. The labs are very easy to understand and the instructions with pictures really help with understanding each concept. What an amazing way to integrate STEM concepts into a fun interactive learning project. I can easily see this book being used by both parents and teachers alike. This is also a must for Minecraft followers. It shows you unique ways you can play the game that you may not have heard before. Very impressed so far!
