I've been following Peterson for almost three years now. Unfortunately for me, I'm on the left side of the liberal scale, which means that most of my friends are progressives, and I've taken a lot of flak for discussing his ideas. Consequently, I have written a book to introduce his basic intellectual framework to the average person. This book is the thing I'll point to now when my friends say he's incoherent or just a self-help guru.My aim with this book was to give the basic tenets of Peterson's intellectual framework, enabling someone to just drop in on any of his lectures, interviews, etc., and to understand basically where he is coming from. I follow his ideas beginning with his pragmatic notion of truth, on to his conception of ideas and beliefs being embodied before they're abstracted into articulated speech, then on to his functional definitions of the concept of God, then to order/chaos, and, finally, into how his political positions flow from the overall conceptual scheme outlined before.This book is for someone wanting to understand how Peterson's ideas fit together into a basic, coherent framework. This is an introduction of Lovins’ thought not Peterson’s and amounts to little more than intellectual masturbation.

This book is nothing more than leftist propaganda. It's for those who want to think there are credible arguments against Peterson's arguments. Very disappointed.

Jordan Peterson, the thinker, gives a message of such power than it can't be ignored. Be the best you can be, be responsible, a simple message yet one ignored in the western world.

Poor summary of Peterson’s views. Just listen to or read him yourself rather than get someone’s interpretation of his ideas.

I hate to say it but I think the author is trying to ride Peterson’s coat tails for book sales.Your better off just getting Peterson’s book and reading his ideas for yourself.

Peterson represents and what he stands for can be a daunting task. What's his deal with pronouns? Why does he seem to be fixated on lobsters? What does he mean by "clean your room"? Tylor Lovins, who was kind enough to send me an advance copy of this book, has done a great service for everybody interested in going deeper than the memes and really understanding the basics of Peterson's thought so as to be in a well-informed position from which to critique his work without strawmanning him.As a progressive and atheist who leans left on most social issues, I have many disagreements with Peterson's philosophy and his formulation of certain cultural controversies, including the age-old science vs. religion debate. But I have benefited immensely from Lovins's thoughtful and clear articulation of Peterson's worldview and how its many components, ranging from religion, science, epistemology, politics, and ethics, have their forerunners in other thinkers from earlier generations. This is a book I would highly recommend to any and all journalists and media commentators who cover Peterson in their articles and television pieces. While I personally may not be convinced that Peterson's often-confusing message is what the world needs at this point in history, the cat is out of the bag, so to speak, and Peterson is a cultural force to be reckoned with whether we like it or not. Lovins has helped us in that reckoning task, effectively making Peterson much less confusing for the average person and perhaps even relaying his message more succinctly than Peterson himself has managed.

My 2yo is obsessed with the idea of school. This appeases her desires to learn without being overwhelming or too babyish. The pages are very thick compared to most workbooks so it makes it easy to do them over and over with different colors. I have been tempted to take them out and just laminate them so she could have a book she can do over and over.

I bought this for my two year old granddaughter who is extremely smart for her age. It's loaded with fun images and easy practice pages for comparing items, drawing lines, counting, etc.

This is a bore with the author doing a hatchet job on the Duchess' cranky protective attorney. The author never saw the Duchess but speculates with no real substantiation her beliefs about her health and environment. The author admits to waiting until the attorney's death to publish this overblown tome the better not to be sued, but lacking in courage. Other parts rehash the Duchess' life in an uninspired manner. Stuffy and overblown.

This has to be the most entertaining book I've read in a long time. Caroline Blackwood's acid wit shines through in her depiction of Suzanne Blum, the Duchess's relentless guard dog in her final years. It is not so much a book about the Duchess as it is a book about how Maître Blum's blind adulation created a living-dead legend of Wallis, the Duchess if Windsor. It is a cautionary tale of making sure that in old age one does not end up in the clutches of a guardian who, while claiming to have your best interests at heart, condemns you to a living hell.

One would expect the brash Duchess to go out with a bang not a whimper, but that was not to be. The anti-climax of the Duchess' last years is really appalling. However, this sprightly reminiscence of author Blackwood's attempts to visit the Duchess but kept at the door by Wallis' rottweiler-lawyer, Suzanne Blum, is often hilarious. But there is pathos involved, too. The Duchess is actually up-staged by Madam Blum but Wallis does not go away- she's hovering like the spirit of Rebecca in "Rebecca" but she's not calling the shots.Blum had absolute control not only over the Duchess' estate and power of attorney but over her nursing care. To author Blackwood who interviews her for the substance of this book ,she spins a series of ridiculous lies, such as that both the Windsors were highly cultured and read many books and NEVER set foot in nightclubs. Blum crooningly rhapsodizes about Wallis' beautiful skin "so soft." and that the bed-ridden old lady is still beautiful. Blum seems to be in love with her client and gives you the creeps. Wallis was never beautiful, with a flat figure and big "utilitarian"hands and feet which have fascinated people for decades and we all come back to the old mantra -what did Wallis have to inspire David to give up his throne? Delightful as "The Last of the Duchess" is you will still be left wondering.You laugh at Diane Moseley's description of Wallis as "the poor little creature." Trying to morph Wallis into a poor little creature even if she is flat on a bed with a feeding tube stuck up her nose is virtually impossible for the average reader. Lady Mosely was, of course a well-known Fascist, her husband being head of the Fascist community in England. She offers up some disturbing information that Hitler played buddy-buddy with the Duke when the Windsors foolishly visited him, threw his arm around David's shoulder and disappeared with him after having the doors firmly shut in the Duchess' face. But the fact that the ex king of England was a Nazi aficianado boggles the mind.Maitre Blum had not only tried like Pygmalion to mold the Duchess in her own image, she had taken over the Duchess' life and persona. Since it was impossible for author Blackwood to see Wallis, she attempted to interview the few friends of Wallis who were not dead.Freda Dudley Ward, one of the Prince's early and most lasting lovers, after half a century and a marriage to a Marquis, was still bitter that Wallis had replaced her. She was filled with sneering laughter that "one horrible old lady was imprisoned by another horrible old lady."Other old friends of the Windsors were more charitable. Lady Diana Cooper talks about the love affair between Wallis and the sadistic, homosexual heir to the Woolworth fortune, Jimmy Donahue, who was some twenty years younger than the Duchess. She supposes Wallis was trying to escape from the besotted, smothering attentions of the Duke. David was frequently in anguished tears over some episode concerning his wife, he was abject, and if there was anything Wallis would despise, it was abjectness.When asked by author Blackwood if the Duchess was ever in love with the Duke, Lady Monckton replied "you can always tell when people are in love" implying that Wallis was not in love with her husband."Did the Duchess simply want to be Queen?" queries the author. "Yes, I suppose she did" answered Lady Monckton.There will never really be a "last of the Duchess." Deceased, she has not gone away. Blackwood's observations and reviews are often surprisingly touching. Wallis had been pushed and trained since birth to believe that an aristocratic girl's purpose and destiny in life were to snare a rich husband. It took her two tries and then she hit the jackpot. The horror of her story is that she ended up alone, wired up to a bunch of tubes and under the control of her lawyer, a spider controlling the fragile web of her remaining life.

If you are looking for a good biography of the Duchess of Windsor, this is not it. It is mostly about her lawyer and how she kept the Duchess locked up with no visitors! There is a little biography toward the end of the book, not very much. There were a lot of French phrases throughout the book, only one that I recall being translated to English. If you don't know French, you will miss out as I did. I read the whole book to find out what if anything was really wrong with her, not answered at all. There is an epilogue at the end with she and her lawyers dates of death but not much else. I would not recommend this book to anyone!

The Duchess of Windsor herself appears as an almost dead figure, although she is not allowed to die. She rests in a bed in a dark mansion on the outskirts of Paris. Battling fiercely for her (or against her?) is the fear-inducing lawyer Maitre Blum. Does Maitre Blum really have the Duchess's best interests at heart? Caroline Blackwood started out wanting to interview the Duchess and the lawyer on assignment for a British magazine. What follows is a multi-year attempt to find the facts - why did Edward VI renounce the crown? what were Wally Simpson's real intentions? how did the Windsors live after their exile? what do their surviving friends have to say about the couple? I waited for the grand reveal, it never came.

This is a wonderful book for anyone with thyroid disease. It really helped me get some grasp on what might have caused my thyroid condition, because there is a great self assessment that is very in depth in this book. Knowing what the root cause of the disease is can be the beginning of a better targeted treatment plan. There is just a wealth of great knowledge in this book and anyone with thyroid issues should have this book in their home!

A lot of good information. I think many people will find value in this book. However, personally, I don't think it goes far enough in explaining the underlying problems that can cause thyroid disorders, and how to identify and help you to find health care from appropriate sources to really start healing the plethora of health issues that usually accompany thyroid issues. I would recommend anyone that does not know a lot about what happens with thyroid disorders and how to help improve their health to use this book as a good starting point. Please feel free to ask me any questions, or leave a comment.

I haven't finished reading the book, but it's already made a huge difference in my life. A friend once told me, "When you feel bad enough, you'll do something different." With that in mind, I took the leap and began the elimination diet in the book. It was absolutely amazing! I have lost 30 lbs, but more importantly, I've learned that preservatives cause migraines for me and dairy causes acne. I've lowered my thyroid antibodies from the 250 range to the low 90's and I feel better than I have in years. I haven't gotten through all the reintroduction phase, but I've learned so much already, this book has been a life saver!

I expected more detailed information.All general everybody can find on Google or YouTube.

You just don't know how much better I feel because of this book. My hair stopped falling out, I don't feel like I could sleep all and night anymore, and the dark spots are disappearing. Excellent read.

Frostgrave is a narrative tabletop skirmish game that is rules-lite but still complex enough that good strategy is as important as lucky dice. The fact that there is an advancement and treasure system that carries between battles allows your warband to change and grow over time (or be wiped out when everything just inexplicably goes wrong.)While there is a line of miniatures for this game it is very friendly toward substituting fantasy minis of your choice. Optional Rules and Expansions keep things fresh and can be used to ramp up the difficulty and complexity of the game is you become more familiar with it.The only problems that I had with this game are firstly that just playing the few scenarios in the core book becomes repetitive, which means you're going to want to pick up expansions quickly and also become adept at designing your own scenarios and campaigns. Fortunately this is quite easy once you get the hang of it. Purchasing the Ulterior Motives expansion, which adds random and sometimes hidden secondary objectives for each player is virtually a MUST. If you pick up only one Expansion make it that one.Secondly, I've had to house-rule some of the Random Monster behaviors to make them more dangerous. Using the existing ruleset I've generally found that Random Monsters tend to show up, mill around a bit, and then wander away. Increasing their "detection range" and making them move directly toward the middle of the table on their first activation if no enemies are in line of sight helps this tremendously.Aside from those nitpicks I would say that this is a good way to spend 45 minutes to an hour, and if you add names, backstory, and narrative to each game you play it's very much like playing a D&D dungeon crawl, where each player controls a party of adventurers that are all competing for glory and treasure in the same ruins.

This book is great! The art is beautiful, the rules are clear and well presented. It even includes a campaign you can play through. You can play this game with any figures you already own. I've been using mini's from boardgames as both my warband and the monsters. This game is a lot of fun to play. If you are getting into Tabletop Wargames or want to spice up your games this book is for you. I also recommend the expansion booklets.My only criticism is that the spells are repeated; they give you a list of spells with all there information and then at the end of the book they repeat the same info in cut out card form. Yes, that's nitpicking and photocopying the cards straight from the book could be useful, but you can download them from the website for free.

Frostgrave is a fantastic book on miniature wargaming with a focus on a Magic user (Wizard) being the leader of a small group (around 10 figures) exploring and competing for treasures in a magical city. The city has been frozen for a thousand years and now has become exposed! The background is simple yet complete enough to give great flavor. There are ten different magic using types of characters each with their own spell list and flavor. The combat system is also simple and deadly with everything resolved via a dice roll on a twenty sided dice (d20). There are multiple scenarios with lots of different settings and special events. The ruined city is truly filled with magic and the writing includes fun sidebars discussing the kind of things going on to spark your imagination. The players get to create a location (again with flavor that means something) to operate from as a sort of base. Between games they can add to and improve that same base. Additionally, random events can happen to bring different situations to light. For anyone thinking of putting together a miniature game for beginners or a group this is an excellent resource! I can't wait to run this in some of our gaming stores and for friends!

Holy sweet christmas! What a fun but laid-back casual skirmish game! You get the customization and modularity of using any terrain and miniatures you like and the feeling of both tactical tabletop war games and old school RPGs. Lots of fun, easy to houserule things in and out, and the setting premise (wizards and their mercenary bands exploring an ancient frozen city filled with monsters, competing looters, and treasures galore) are very appealing.The downsides I'm seeing after playing a few times are more about game balance. Each wizard picks one of 10 schools of magic (each with 8 spells) as a primary school, but not all the schools' spells are very well balanced, and the inherent leveling-up system seems to reward a few schools WILDLY over others (especially the Elementalist). Further, I don't understand why you can just convert gold and found relics into any items you want (even said rare magical treasures found in the game); I plan to house rule that you can buy anything *except* the magical treasures, as that's the whole point of the game! But honestly those are minor gripes.It's a fast-to-learn and fast-to-play somewhat rules-light game. Great for gamers on a time crunch, for introducing new players to the hobby, for an inexpensive skirmish game (literally any minis/terrain will do!), and for hobbyists in love with frozen lands terrain!

I bought the PDF version a while back, but growing up with actual books I had to to order the actual hardcover. PDFs can be convenient, but aren't as easy to thumb through!I've not yet played a game, but this is a neat little ruleset. If you ever played HeroQuest/Warhammer Quest or similar type games, Frostgrave runs in that vein of game systems. It's a skirmish based wargame, meaning you're only going to need a few miniatures, not a horde of them like you would need for a standard fantasy/medieval themed game.If you already have a good supply of fantasy miniatures you're probably already set to play. All you'll need is scenery, which is easily made or purchased. Lots of fantasy/medieval themed paper building models are available that are quite suitable for Frostgrave.Is there violence? Well, it's kind of a wargame, so...
