Dr. Ronald Youngblood is a graduate of Valparaiso University (BA), Fuller Theological Seminary (BD), and the Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning (PhD). He has served as professor of Old Testament at Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, Wheaton Graduate School, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and Bethel Seminary in San Diego, and is currently serving in the same capacity at International College and Graduate School in Honolulu. He is an associate editor of the NIV Study Bible; author of 1 and 2 Samuel in the Expositor's Bible Commentary series; and a co-translator and co-editor of the Holy Bible, New International Version. This was purchased for my son. It has good information in it that's easy to understand. It arrived quickly. It has good color photos.
the Nelson's Bible had been done with a very good reflection and particularly the need of the student or the reader as well.the work reflect very well the the out come from the scripture, is easy to read and understand as well.the Nelson work keep present the fundamental theology--the presence of God in the history like flesh, language, language of Jesus---also the central core and concerns. Example Revelation- Credibility, - response of faith,--relation with other religions--revelation to history,and in some form even a touch of philosophy.It easy read, and quite well to keep in mid. it is a very good work which I'm supporting.
This has been a helpful source. I have it on my Kindle along with the Chronological Bible. So if the Bible doesn't have a footnote explaining a person, place, etc., I check the Bible Dictionary which has been helpful. Sometimes it has been hard to find a word but I think that has been the "fault' of the Kindle not the source itself.
I give this a 3 star only because it's just a very basic beginner book. Not bad if your just starting your exploration of the Bible.
I received the Student Bible Dictionary, today and I would say that it is a fine dictionary for the price range. For anyone that would want an intensive explanation of names or locations in the Bible it might not give them what they need. But for a quick reference or for beginning Bible students I feel it serves the purpose.
I purchase this Dictionary for my own use it is very detailed and other vital information it breaks down the scriptures in detail i will be purchasing a few more to give as gifts to my church familyand you can't beat the price so worth it
Really like the time line map. Wish it was a fold out kind of deal instead of being book bound like a page.
"Student" means older grade school or middle school. It may work for adults who are new to the topic, but it is definitely a basic book. I'm disappointed. I expected something along the lines of Unger's Bible Dictionary.
